Assumptions that keep the math consistent
Use direct job labor cost—wages and burden—not a customer-billed labor rate that already recovers overhead or profit. Add an overhead allocation only when it is not already included in another input or rate.
Suggested price minus all entered costs, including allocated overhead and dollar financing fees. This is not necessarily accounting gross profit or net profit; taxes and costs not entered are excluded.
Example: with $4,000 in entered costs and a 20% target margin, the suggested price is $5,000. The $1,000 remainder is above all entered costs, including overhead.
- Scope is descriptive. The scope note helps you check what the estimate covers; it does not change the calculation.
- Financing is a dollar cost. Enter a job-level financing or dealer fee amount. If you only know a percentage fee, determine the applicable dollar cost under your financing terms before entering it.
- Margin is not markup. The target is measured against the suggested price; markup is calculated from cost.
- Use the displayed remainder with its cost scope. The result is limited to costs and assumptions entered in this estimate.
This preview uses the same cost base and formula as the SkilledCurrent Price Builder. It does not import or double-count values from another calculator.
